As adult children, my three brothers and I sought out Allen and Terra Haley at Matters of the Heart Resources for a Family Intensive with my parents. Immediately Allen and Terra eased my fears and created an environment where my family was able to communicate safely & effectively regarding my father's alcoholism and our mother's hoarding. Allen and Terra and the day far exceeded my expectations. I was amazed at her ability to perceive and facilitate 6 individuals' thoughts and emotions for an 8-hour time period in one day.

For the first time in in almost 4 years I have REAL hope in my marriage to my wife.
You both have given me a true realization of how my behavior impacts her. And I see now for the first time how my childhood experiences have played a major role in my life now. I am moving forward with that healing. I understand now what it means to listen and have compassion for my wife even if I have a different experience. I know how to properly ask for what I want. And I see how I have deeply hurt her and can take responsibility for this for the first time. The intensive was beyond any expectation that I ever had! I remember sitting at the computer just weeks ago the night I started searching on Google for help. I had never felt more hopeless and on was so close to leaving. I cried out to God asking him to show me where to find the help we needed.
It is no accident that Terra was the first one to respond to the many emails I sent out that day. God has blessed both of you with very special gifts and abilities. You compliment each other so well. After more than 12 years of marriage, Terra & Allen have helped us to change the way we communicate and share our feelings. Their "root up" approach has helped us to understand why we behave the way we do and how to deal with the entrenched behavioral patterns that caused us to question the love we had for each other.
Allen and Terra sat with me, with compassion through layers of tears and anger. I was immersed in depression when I first found my way to their office door. My wife and I did a three-day marriage intensive counseling session with Terra and Allen resulting in an incredible strengthening of our understanding of each other, as well as productive ways to communicate.

We both appreciate your caring and empathetic attitude, the skill you apply to "reading" the situation and the teaching and 'challenging us' moments you point out to us. Good Morning Terra, I Wanted to thank you and Allen once again for an amazing and rewarding experience. Both Pete and I were filled with hope and excitement. I am really happy that many topics came up and it was safe talking about our experience for the first time in many years. I had the courage to ask him if he has forgiven me. I was able to listen with an open heart free of fear and justification. He was able to share from his heart that although he forgives me it still hurts at times. He no longer blames me and understands the circumstances. It felt so good to talk about a time in our relationship that was so broken.
We have come a long way. Thank you both for helping us move through our relationship with more grace.

When we first came to see Allen & Terra I was in really bad shape and so was my marriage. They came along side of us and challenged us to re-think our concept of God and lean into His love and grace.
